WINTER HOLIDAYS IN LONDON

On cold, but sunny February day, we flew from Jože Pučnik Airport Ljubljana against the British capital city.

We landed at Gatwick Airport. There we planned to buy Oyster card but a man told us that there they are not selling them. So we brought a day travel card and took a train to Victoria. From there we took an underground till our hotel. When we walk around for the very first time the road signs like this on the picture below helps us a lot. At first we watch in all directions and if there was really nowhere really none car, only then we cross the road. Where was more people we easily follow them cross the road.

We stayed in the London Visitors Hotel. Our room was small but cozy. Because outside was raining and it was already late afternoon, there was no longer daylight. So we decide to stay in our room and make a plan for the next days.

We woke up in a sunny morning. On the Underground station, we buy Oysters cards. For moving around London we suggest you use Citymapper.
It is a super cool app. We like it very much also because there you can see the price of your journey. That day we decide to see Tower Bridge. On the way there we went across the Millennium bridge.

On the other side of the Thames River, we went to the Tate Museum. Very close to the museum there is Shakespeare's Globe. Very interesting, we recommend you visit if you are somewhere around. Because we get hungry we went to the Borough Market.

After our lunch, we went to see Tower Bridge.

We went across to another side of the river. There we take a quick rest on the river bank. Soon we have to move further. At 3:30 PM we had a reservation in Sky Garden.

The Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street is a unique public space that spans three stories and offers 360-degree uninterrupted views across the City of London. Visitors can wander around the exquisitely landscaped gardens, observation decks and an open-air terrace of what is London’s highest public garden.
The Sky Garden has been designed to create an open and vibrant place of leisure, offering visitors a rare chance to experience London from a different viewpoint. Entry to the Sky Garden is FREE, but please note space is strictly limited and visits must be booked online in advance through this site.

If you are planning to visit Sky Garden in time of sunset, make sure that you make a reservation at least 2 weeks before, because tickets are limited. We went there at 3:30 PM and the line for security was all the way out of the building.

The Sky Garden was definitely one of the best things that we visit in our time in London. I highly recommend you to visit it.

After that we went to Leadenhall Market.

Because it was already pretty late and it gets cold we decide to went back to our hotel.

Our hotel has on the ground floor a nice and cozy living room. There you can find also some tea. We spend all our evenings in comfy chairs in that livingroom. We play cards and also a few hotel's games. It was very fun.

The next day we took a bus and first of all we went to Hyde Park. Of course, we took the upper front seats.

We weren’t long in that park because it was raining earlier and everything was wet. So we went forward to see Buckingham Palace. We expect to saw their guards in their typical red uniforms, but they were wearing a grey one.

Later we went to St James's Park. In London are many parks, but because at the time of our visit there was winter and days were short we, unfortunately, visit only a few of them.
St James's Park was our favorite.

Then we went to see Big Ben. Because it started raining again, and we were already hungry we went to lunch.

Because after our lunch break was still raining, we decide that we went to the King’s Cross train Station to visit Harry Potter Shop.

King’s Cross Square

There were a lot of people, but still not too crowded. On Sunday we came there again and visitors have to wait to get into the shop.
Later we went to the British Museum, but we were not long there, because there were way too many people.

After that outside was already dark and we went to the closest Starbucks to a drink. Later it finally stopped raining and on our way back to the hotel we stopped in Oxford Street.

Then we visit also Piccadilly Circus. We really wanna see it at night.

Then we finally got to the hotel.
The next day was already our last whole in London.
In the morning we went to Oxford Street to make some shopping.

Later we went to Piccadilly Circus to saw it one again but this time by day. There we hear a street musician. We decided to go closer to hear better.
We say "O he is good, let's listen to him for a while and then we must go eat, cuz we are hungry already." And we did. There we saw that another man is preparing for his preform. There were also dancers. After a few songs we check hour and we find out that we were listening to them for more than an hour. We forget about our hunger, we just listened to them.
After our lunch break, we went to the M&M store, to buy some of their famous and delicious candy.

After that, we visit also China Town. Because at the time of our visit they just celebrating Chinese New Year, there was very very loudly.

After that, we wanna go to Regent park, but because it just starts raining again we decided that we go back to the hotel and rather hang out in the hotel's living room.

The next day was unfortunately also our last day in London. That day was also the weather forecast the worse.
On our way to the train station, we make 2 more stops. First, we went to Trafalgar Square. We thought that we will see just another square, but no. There awaited us a nice surprise. There we find out that there is running the main Chinese New Year celebration.

Then we went to Barbican Center to see Botanical Garden. This garden is FREE.
First, we couldn't find the entry point. Inside you will find a lot of cactus and different tropical plants.

Later we went to King’s Cross train station where we eat our last lunch before leaving London.

From that station we took a train until Luton Airport, from where we have our first night flight back home.

We had a really good time in London. We are sure that we will go there again, but next time at summer, because we want visit more their gorgeous parks.
